Retrogaming

In January 2023, I took part in a week-long retrogaming workshop. The aim was to create a short animation in this graphic style on one of two themes: escape or combat. I chose the latter.
I wanted to create a complex animation made up of several parts. So I chose to work in a common graphic universe (an "RPG" video game, with a fight against a monster) to be able to develop the animations more than the characters.

I have two main characters: the player (called Key) and a kind of robotic vampire enemy, Barthelemy. My aim was to show several stages in combat: an interraction, an attack and a spell. Iddle animation Attack animation The other major objective was to work on the interfaces (life bar, character head, menu) and on the scenery, which would help situate the action. In my mind, this fight took place in the last part of the game, just before the final battle. So I needed an important backdrop: hence the choice of this castle and its terrifying atmosphere.
